M-Commerce Apps

Distribution channel and effective loyalty & promotional tool.

Modern consumers  expect a seamless shopping experience across all channels, whether in brick & mortar stores, online shops, or on their mobile devices. Customers should have access to the same functions and information - such as product data, account, basket or shopping list - in every channel. Mobile channels also offer interesting possibilities for customized promotions via  push messaging or in-app vouchers, or help increasing customer loyalty by replacing customer- and savings-cards.

We advise our clients in all aspects of integration, conception, and realization of a mobile shopping channel as one part of the puzzle of their multi-channel presence and how to use mobile apps as an effective loyalty and promotional tool.

Enterprise Apps

Enterprise Apps

For more quality, transparency and cost efficiency.

Wherever paper documents are still created or where there are media breaks between data acquisition, retention, and output, the continuous digitization of business processes can save much time and money and improve the quality of the data.

The rapid proliferation of mobile devices opens up another great potential for increasing efficiency, especially for companies with outside sales. With direct access to corporate and customer data via tablets, outside sales teams can advise customers on-site with greater efficiency and the orders can be submitted directly to the company’s backend, without additional expense or loss of time and quality. That is just one possible application among many.

We support companies in the conception and realization of tailormade fieldforce apps.

For the expansion of the fiber-optic network in the city of Zurich, we teamed up with appculture to develop two iPad Apps for data acquisition and consultation. In that, we achieve sustainable savings and quality improvements. The appculture team has proven to be extremely competent and a reliable partner in our work together.

Consumer Apps

Consumer Apps

Wether news apps, games, social networking, shopping, lifestyle, travel, productivity or weather apps: mobile apps have become a vital necessity to almost everyone.

What Apple rang in in 2008, today is an integral part in the life of every consumer: Mobile apps on the smartphone, tablet, desktop, TV, and now on smartwatches. In this jungle of apps, suppliers have to prevail with a top app that meets the customer's need in terms of usability and performance at its core and leaves no wish unfulfilled.

We create successful applications for our customers that place the user and his needs at the center and at the same time, meet the highest demands with respect to usability, technical performance and security.

We are very pleased that the “Weather Alarm” app has, since its launch in 2010, been downloaded more than 600,000 times. The appculture team has provided every kind of support we’ve needed since the beginning, from designing user interactivity to engineering the apps. We particularly appreciate the close partnership that has ultimately made it possible for us to continue developing our service successfully.

Smarthome/IoT Apps

Remote control for home automation and home electronics.

Manufacturers of home systems and electronics have long realized that they can increase the attractiveness of their products by connecting them with the Internet and using mobile apps for controlling, monitoring, and analysis.

appculture supports product providers in the design and realization of intuitive smart home applications, based on various technologies (BLE, NFC, HomeKit, LoRA etc.).

Apple devices, whether iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, continue to be among the most popular devices in Switzerland, especially in an affluent target group. Since the opening of the iTunes app store in 2008, we have designed and developed native applications for iOS in Objective-C and Swift. Where it makes sense, we use partially hybrid elements, based on web technologies like HTML5, CSS3, or JavaScript.

As a manufacturer-independent operating system, Android continues to spread, especially amongst a younger audience. We design and develop native, Java-based applications for Android smartphones and tablets. Where it makes sense, we use partially hybrid elements. Given the wide variety of hardware using Android, development and especially quality assurance/testing for Android platforms is more involved than for iOS.

Apple Watch

The design and development of Apple Watch apps differs fundamentally from iPhone or iPad apps. The screen size is drastically smaller and the use cases should be limited to current and spontaneously relevant information or functions. Criteria such as battery consumption are even more important than in the phones. We design and develop Apple Watch apps for our customers as standalone apps or as extensions of existing iOS apps.

Web Frontend / Mobile Web

Frontend technologies are developing fast. In close collaboration with our backend engineers and interaction and visual designers, our frontend engineers are creating state-of-the-art frontend solutions, based on modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript and frameworks like JQuery or AngularJS. Increasingly important are mobile frontends, as the number of mobile accesses to websites is constantly raising.

Cross Plattform

appculture has experience with cross platform development (Xamarin, PhoneGap). The decision to use a framework should be thought through carefully. Many times the cost savings look very attractive initially, but during the project platform specific adjustments and additional layers often compensate the gains throughout the project.

TV & Desktop

Smart TV & Desktop

The demand for apps does not stop once you sit down at a stationary device. As a result, the apps offered for Smart TV, Apple TV and Android TV, as well as Macs and PCs, are steadily increasing. For example, the Ex Libris VOD app, developed by appculture, allows Smart TV users to load their Samsung and LG TVs directly with movies and series that they can enjoy on demand. appculture designs and develops TV and desktop apps in the respective platform languages.

Backend / Cloud

Cloud / Backend

Most mobile and stationary applications are based on a backend system that supplies current data and covers the business logic. appculture designs and implements cloud and backend solutions based on Java, PHP or .NET as individual solutions or as applications of products from the respective CMS or e-commerce-solution provider. We expand existing solutions, implement refactorings and build APIs.

SAP Mobile Development

SAP Mobile Development

Many companies rely on SAP solutions. Increasingly, they need to be able to access these via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. SAP's HANA, the Fiori/UI5 for web-based solutions, and the Fiori iOS SDK for native apps make this a ready possibility. We design and realize native and web-based mobile apps based on Fiori and aligned with the objectives and applications of SAP users.

Push Notifications

Push messages allow app users to be proactively informed about news, sales or special promotions, making them an ideal tool for increasing customer loyalty and app usage, as long as the messages are relevant for the user. We support our customers in defining the best Push-Strategy and evaluating and implementing a state-of-the art Push-Service (eg. Firebase, Urban Airship, Leanplumb).

Beacons offer a wide range of interesting applications. For example, retail stores can greet customers as they enter the shop with a personalized welcome message and draw attention to promotions. Apple itself uses Beacons in the United States to inform customers in the stores about easyPay. We have already carried out a number of successful pilot tests with beacons for our customers.
